Has anyone used an automatic pool cleaner on an endless pool swim spa?

Nas-Cat

Just wondering if anyone has tried connecting one of the aquabot type pool cleaners up on an "endless pool"?

Answer
This "endless pool" what we call a jet pool? You swim against the current, it's about 8 feet long? If so, nope, why would you? It's like getting out an industrial shop vac to pick up a grain of sand. There's not enough of the pool for one to vac. Likely as well, it wouldn't do a great job. Too tight a space for their turning radius.
This was a joke, right?

i have an above ground pool and i recently bought an automatic pool cleaner from craigslist, so it didnt come with a manual. i dont think that it is working properly because i left it in for about 2hrs and it picked up a little bit but not everything. whenever it goes over an area with bugs around it, it doesnt pick it up it just makes the debris float around the pool. this is the model i have:http://www.epinions.com/reviews/Robo_Kleen_Robotic_Pool_Cleaner_RK01_A
somebody pleasee help!! thanks=]

Answer
Robo Kleen pool cleaners are designed for above ground pools so that is not going to be the problem. Go to the website below, find your model, and when you click on it, you should see an online version of the owners manual. That should help you out.

If I get an "Aquabot" do I still need a pool filter and vice versa?

T E

First off I'm not at all familiar with pools. It just so happens that the house I live at has one and it's filter is broken. I saw an ad on line for an Aquabot pool cleaner and was curious about it. Because although I want to use the pool I don't want to put something in that I can't exactly take with me when I leave. So once again if I use the Aquabot automatic pool cleaner will I need a filter system as well?

Answer

How do I rid of the dirt at the bottom of my pool if all the automatic vacuum does is mix it?

I am unsure if it's dirt, old DE, or algae. I am attempting to push all of it down the drain, but this also just mixes in with the water making clouds. Any advice?

Answer
First off i would use a regular pool vac and put your filter on waste and just get rid of it once and for all by slowly sucking it up (take your time as clouds happen when you go to fast). If your still using an old DE filter then personally id give it the old heave ho and get a sand filter as they are not that expensive and are much safer and easier to maintain then the DE filters especially since the dust they use to re coat them is considered a carcinogen.

If your making clouds chances are it isnt algae as it usually acts like super glue to the walls of your pool until you super chlorinate it into oblivion. Might be dirt but if it doesnt come up with the manual vacuuming i highly doubt it. If you do have a DE filter it might be junk that made it from the DE filter into the pool and thus always makes it way back in. If its a cartridge filter it could be your filter is clogged up and is thus missing material and just reshooting it out into the pool. Simply hose down a cartridge filter until clean with a pressure washer and reinstall.

Short Form Answer
1.) If you have a DE toss it and get a sand filter, much easier to maintain and safer to use
2.) If your not sure what it is in the bottom check your chlorine levels if they are non existent or low super chlorinate and see what happens to it then (whether it vacs up or not)
3.) Use a manual vac for cleanups and the auto vac for basic weekly maintenance when your not using the pool.

I'm constantly having to stand over it to backwash/rinse it to ensure that it continues to operate correctly and my pool isn't even that dirty, we just purchased a brand new pump, sand for the filter and cleaned it out as well, and the vacuum is also brand new. I'm positive it has no air leaks. please help, I'm beyond lost

I want to buy an automatic pool cleaner and researched many. I came to a conclusion to either get a Polaris or Hayward. I saw many Haywards for sale on eBay and they complained that it gets stuck because of the shape of their pool. So now I am looking to get a Polaris 280. Can anyone explain the difference between Polaris 280, 360, 380, and basically all the numbers? I just need a pool vacuum that will do the job without me having to interfere with it.

Answer
Above ground pool or in-ground pool.
If it is an above ground pool, go for the Hayward BUG.
In-ground pool cleaners, I would have to say Hayward or Kreepy .
The fewer working parts the better.
All of these robots can get stuck, in some pools.

which automatic pool vacuum is best?

I want to buy an automatic pool vacuum. I was told there are 3 kinds: suction side, pressure side and robotic. Which of these works best and which is easiest to use? Also, what is a good brand/model and good price?

Answer
In my experience the best type of vacuums are suction side. You should consider a Polaris ATV. It can climb walls and has a bag for the bigger debris so it won't clog up your pipes or filter.

There's a good article on the following website about the different types of automatic vacuums...

Good luck. I hope that helps...

I have a 12 ft. easy-set intex pool and the only problem i'm having is getting the small algae particals that settle to the floor up after I've used algaecide and clarifier. I just have one of those cheap $12 vacuums and all it does is shuffle the algae around again. Can anyone recommend one and tell me approximately how much it is?

Answer
I wouldn't be without a Polaris pool cleaner. It is by far the best and we've owned several different ones.

How to run pool filter/motor?

A

I have a swimming pool 6 x 6 Meters 2 m height,
Yesterday a company came and clean my pool and add chemical stuffs, told me to fill it with water and in the morning they will come to activate ,run filter or motor i dont know

I paid all, but it seems they won't come back maybe theives... but anyways anyone know whats the next step to do?. how to run filter motor?.. I don't know,, I have like a big pumb thing and other one is near the water storage room with a small machine that can set filters or motor automatic... anyone can help? i don't want the water to get dirty because I wasted alot of money already .

Answer
On mine there is a toggle switch at the rear bottom of the motor. you flip it on or off and the motor starts. Turn the shaft by hand if it has set off for a extended time to make sure the impeller blades are free in the pump. They stick and you can rip them off on starting. Once started you go to the timer. look at your clock and set the time. then open the cover and move the 2 colored pegs for on at such time. then the other set to turn it off at such time. You need water above the intake before turning on the pump. and prime the pump first. On mine to do that you open the valve above the impeller house and let water out to remove the air in it.

Polaris, Aquabot, Dolphin, Orion or some other one?

Answer
I have a Polaris 360. Does a good job for the amount of money. Gets stuck in the corners quite allot. I've had it for 3 years and the only thing I have had to do is change the wheels. They were worn down. I also have changed the bag that collects the debris.

What do I need in order to clean a pool?

The Super

It is a heated gunite chlorine pool. I have no experience with pools.
Need to know everything from proper chemicals to cleaning equipment. The pool is already open and swimmable, I just need to keep it clean and maintain it. Possibly close the pool at the end of the season.
I don't have any equipment except for the automatic filter that is currently running.

What about those automatic pool vacuum things?
Thank you for your help
Also, if you could point me in the direction of cheaper places to buy the supplies, like online vendors. I'm in New York.

Answer
I would start out with a good water test kit, preferably a liquid drop type. I feel they are much more accurate than the test strips.
Secondly, get some pool tools: a pool pole, net, brush, vacuum (either an automatic unit or a manual vacuum head, and vacuum hose).
Then you will want chemicals. I would suggest talking about that with someone from a local pool company / store. Some chemicals work better than others based on your region.
Lastly, you might consider getting a lesson in pool care from a REPUTABLE pool service company. Check out: Yelp.com, angieslist.com or Google maps for reviews.

I personally do something like that for my customers. I call it "pool school". It generally takes about an hour or so, to go over the basics of pool care. Bring a pen and paper for note taking.

How do I take good care of my swimming pool?

automatic pool cleaner for pebble tec on Sacramento Swimming Pool Construction Photo Gallery - Jim Chandler ...
automatic pool cleaner for pebble tec image

Teresa Z

It's been revamped with Pebble Tec this year, and contains about 24,000 gallons of water. I live in Phoenix, Arizona. With this information, what can I do to get my pool in the best condition, and to keep it that way?

pH ... ~8.0
Chlorine ... ~1.0
Average water temp ... ~78°f

I have been keeping the pool chlorinated and leaf-free, but a very busy week has ruined my previous efforts. The floor is dusty and green and brown (maybe brown is dead?) algae is in small patches here and there.

Answer
You should get an automatic pool sweep, They run off your current pool pump and will clean the pool every day. They cost $150-$ 250 but are well worth the price

what should i do ro check out to see wny my automatic pool cleaner(polaris turtle) is not working?

Answer
I cannot find the website for polaris, seems they were sold not too long ago. I could be wrong on that.

If your turtle plugs into the skimmer or fitting in the water and there is not a separate pump to operate it, likely the turtle is a suction side automatic cleaner.

Suction side automatic cleaners all have something in common and that is when your filter is getting dirty the amount of water going through your cleaner and filter is way down. Inside your cleaner is a water paddle wheel that makes the turtle go.

Check your turtle to see if the passage ways are clean and clear and the hose is also, then clean out your filter. A clean filter should develop about 16-20psi when clean. When dirty and needing cleaning the pressure is about 26-30 or a 10 psi gain. Best to clean before 10 psi but surely by 10 psi.

You're welcome!!

does anyone know how to fix a robo Kleen above ground pool cleaner?

My Robo Kleen automatic above ground pool cleaner worked at first, then it began running a little forward and a little backwards then it stopped altogether?

Answer
Is this the one that runs on pool suction ? I had one that ran that way and it would clog up if leaves or debris got in it.

Answer
the most common form of pool cleaners are suction cleaners which have a hose that simply attaches through the skimmer. (If the pool has a main drain, it would need to be closed using the valve). The cleaner automatically moves around the bottom of the pool, sucking debris off the bottom of the pool and trapping it in the pump basket and filter. The pump basket should be emptied before and after the cleaning cycle. And the filter should be cleaned after cleaning the pool. Any large debris (leaves, sticks, and such) should be removed from the pool with a leaf rake before hooking up cleaner to prevent clogging up plumbing and allowing for a more effecient cleaning cycle. If you are considering purchasing a cleaner, I highly recommend the Zodiac brand. ( By the way, incase you're wondering, I own a swimming pool company and would be more than happy to answer any other questions you may have)
